About Keoladeo Ghana National Park
Formerly known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park is India’s famous avifauna sanctuary. It is one of the best places in India to sanctuaries in the world to enjoy birding. According to Sir Peter Scott Bharatpur sanctuary is the world’s best bird area. This famous avifauna sanctuary sees thousands of rage and highly endangered spices of birds that come here mostly during the winter season, such as Siberian Cranes. It is known that there are over 230 species of migratory birds have made the national park their home. The park also has about 366 different species of resident birds. In the year of 1985 this famous bird park was declared as world heritage site by UNESCO in natural category.
Flora & Fauna at Keoladeo Ghana National Park
The park has rich flora and fauna to offer its visitors. The fauna of this sanctuary features about 379 different floral species. Tropical dry deciduous forest, intermixed with dry grassland is the main vegetation at the park. Fauna of this park comprise of 370 different species of birds, 50 species of fish, 5 species of lizards, 13 species of snakes, 7 amphibian species, and 7 turtle species.
The park has many species of waterfowls, landbirds and prey birds. Commonly sited waterfowls at the sanctuary are gadwall, shoveler, common teal, cotton teal, great cormorant, Indian shag, ruff, painted stork, tufted duck, comb duck, little cormorant, white spoonbill, Asian open-billed stork, oriental ibis, darter, common sandpiper, wood sandpiper and green sandpiper. Sarus crane, etc. Landbirds at this park include bee-eaters, bulbuls, warblers, babblers, buntings, chats, partridges, quails, grey hornbill, Marshall's iora, etc. Prey birds at this park include different species of eagles such as Pallas' sea eagle, short-toed eagle, spotted eagle, crested serpent eagle, tawny eagle and imperial eagle. There are also some species of mammals at this park. The best way to explore this park is cycle rickshaw ride.

Access From Airport The nearest airport Agra is 56-kms from Keoladeo Ghana National Park. The place is also well connected with Delhi Airport, which can be reached from Agra.
Access From Railways Regular rail services connect Bharatpur with all the major cities of India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Agra. The Bharatpur railway station is 6-kms from the park
Access From Roadways An excellent network of roadway services connects Bharatpur to all the major cities of the Rajasthan and its neighboring states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana. Bharatpur is well connected by road from Agra (56-kms, 5 hours), Delhi (176-kms, 5 hours) and Jaipur (176-kms, 6 hours), all of which have airport facilities too.

Follow the rules, for e.g., do not walk around if you are not permitted to do so
• Do not disturb the animals during day time as most of the nocturnal animals sleep during day time.
• Do not try to irritate the animals or make them angry by teasing them.
• Wear clothes in shades of brown and green as they are less disturbing to the environment.
• Avoid wearing perfumes and do not smoke in restricted areas.
• Animals are extremely weary of the human voice. Don’t make noise, don’t play music and please don’t honk car horn.
• Take official guides along with you on the park trip.
• Do not smoke inside the park.
• Picking of plants and insects is strictly prohibited.
• Wear loose fitting and simple clothes that blend with the park surroundings.
• For the safety of the visitors, walking and hiking within the vicinity of the park is not allowed.
• Camping and picnicking is not allowed within the park.
• Carry plenty of water along with you.
• Carry Personal medication and insect repellent.
• Carry Binoculars, Cameras, film rolls and Flashlight along with books and other reading material.
